President Bola Tinubu orders reduction in security personnel and convoy vehicles, of ministers, Heads of MDA
President Bola Tinubu has limited the number of vehicles that Federal Government heads of agencies, ministers, and ministers of state may have in their official convoys to no more than three.
They will not be given access to any more vehicles for transportation.
The president’s signed statement announcing the cost-cutting measure was released today.
President Tinubu made a major move to save government spending in January of this year by cutting the number of officials in his entourage on international visits from fifty to twenty. He cut the number of officials to 25 for local trips.
Similarly, he cut the vice president’s entourage to 15 officials for domestic travel and 5 officials for international travel.
As part of today’s decision, President Tinubu also mandated that all ministers, heads of state, and agency heads have a maximum of five security personnel attached to them.
Four police officers and one Department of State Services (DSS) officer will make up the security squad. He commanded that no more security guards be deployed.
President Tinubu gave the National Security Adviser instructions to consult with the military, paramilitary, and security agencies in order to decide how best to reduce the deployment of their vehicles and security guards.
