Court Stops CBN From Sending Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara His Allocation.

The Central Bank of Nigeria was prevented from further disbursing monthly cash allocations to the Rivers State Government on Wednesday by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

According to the sitting judge, Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s presentation of the 2024 budget to the four-member Rivers House of Assembly violated a constitutional prohibition.

She said that Fubara’s receipt and distribution of monthly allotments since January of this year constitute an abnormality and constitutional swerve that cannot be permitted to go on.

The lawsuit to prevent Rivers from receiving federal funding is being postponed by the court.
Justice Abdulmalik further declared that Fubara’s implementation of an illegal budget was egregious.
