Lawmaker Ikwechegh Apologises For Assaulting Driver
The House of Representatives member Alex Ikwechegh apologized on the floor of the legislative body for attacking a cab driver. Nigerians were outraged and condemned Ikwechegh after he was caught on camera attacking Stephen Abuwatseya, a Bolt driver.
On the House of Representatives floor on Tuesday, the politician expressed sorrow for his action and expressed his embarrassment at the occurrence, despite having already issued a statement expressing regret for the act.
Even though I regret some of the things I said, I just want to reiterate that I am a human, Mr. Speaker and honorable colleagues. Regardless of the provocation, I apologize to all Nigerians,” the Abia legislator stated.
“There should be no reason why I should react in that form. So, I want to use this opportunity to appeal to all Nigerians. Let us let what has happened, remain in the past, and let us forge forward.”
