Ibas appoints administrators for 23 Rivers LGs

The nomination of administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas in the state has been approved by Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the only administrator of Rivers State.
Less than twenty-four hours have passed since a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt allegedly barred him from designating administrators to manage the local government councils’ operations.
In action No. FHC/PH/CS/46/2025, which was filed by the PILEX Center for Civic Education Initiative under the leadership of Courage Msirimovu against the Sole Administrator in his official position, Justice Adam Muhammed made the order on Tuesday.
Ibas did, however, also authorize the creation of a few commissions, parastatals, and boards of agencies that he had previously suspended.
“The appointments of administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State have been approved by His Excellency, the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR,” the announcement said.
Additionally, he has authorized the reorganization of a number of previously suspended commissions, parastatals, and agency boards.
“All appointments are effective as of Monday, April 7, 2025.”
