Flamingos Thrash Ecuador 4-0 in U-17 Women’s World Cup Showdown

 

In a dominant display, the Flamingos triumphed over Ecuador with a resounding 4-0 victory in their second group game of the U-17 Women’s World Cup. The match showcased the Flamingos’ offensive prowess and defensive resilience, setting a positive tone for their tournament campaign.

Early Dominance, the Flamingos took control from the start, with Moshood scoring the opening goal in the  28th minute after converting from the penalty spot

The midfielders orchestrated play effectively, creating several scoring opportunities and keeping Ecuador on the back foot throughout the first half. Shortly after halftime, Chidi doubled the lead, pouncing on a defensive mistake to slot the ball into the net in the 54th minute.

In the 70th minute, Effiong scored a stunning long-range shot, leaving the Ecuadorian goalkeeper with no chance and further extending the Flamingos’ lead to 3-0.

Moshood capped off the scoring with a precise finish in the 85th minute, sealing the comprehensive victory.

The Flamingos employed a high-press strategy, which paid off as they frequently disrupted Ecuador’s build-up play. Their defensive unit remained disciplined, effectively neutralizing any threats from the Ecuadorian forwards.

Post-match, the head coach praised the team’s performance, emphasizing their hard work and commitment. “This win is a testament to our preparation. The girls executed the game plan perfectly, and I’m proud of their effort,” he stated.
